
Training of field volunteers on life saving, child care and protection practices and communication skills -Capital Secretariat – Al Thowra Directorate
The Yemeni NGOs Coalition for Child Rights held a training session for field volunteers on life saving field outreach work, where the trainees will work in the targeted areas and neighborhoods, as w, childcare and protection practices and communication skills from 21 to 24 January 2018, with the support of UNICEF, in Al Thowra Directorate in the Capital Secretariat. Forty male and female volunteers from 40 targeted neighborhoods within the district attended and trained.
The training session aimed to provide the trainees with key communication skills, as a cornerstone of the success of ell as to develop their knowledge and change their attitudes to adopt lifesaving attitudes, practices, and behaviors, childcare and protection in Yemen. The training session also aimed at equipping them with information on cholera and diphtheria and methods of treatment and prevention. The items of the session also taught the trainees the best ways to conduct effective dialogue, interactive activities and built confidence with individuals, families, and groups in society.
The training included presentation of the outcomes of the community Outreach Project for Behavioral and Social Change in its first stage, identification of problems and causes of their emergence, and explanation of the current stage of the project and accompanying activities for field outreach. The trainees were also trained on submitting reports, and were given the necessary media materials for field outreach.
At the end of the training, 80 young men and women from the 40 targeted districts were called to the training site for distribution to trainees, who will train them on the ground and participate in field outreach.
The trainees were trained by Mr. Borkan Al Aghbari and Mr. Fayez Haidar from the Health Education Office. The training session was facilitated by Mr. Nabil Al Jidairi and Mr. Khaled Omar.
The training was attended by Ms. Khadija Sharaf Al Deen, Coordinator of Al Thowra District for the YNGOC, as well as Mr. Abdo Salah Al Harazi, General Coordinator of YNGOC, who gave a closing statement to the trainees. He stressed the importance of the role of volunteers in spreading awareness on lifesaving messages and praised them for undertaking their responsibility towards the country, which will contribute to alleviating the suffering of society as a result of the aggression. After that, he distributed the participation certificates to them.
