Submission of International reports parallel to government reports

The Government of Yemen submits periodic reports to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child as a state party to the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child  (CRC) and its Optional Protocols. Pursuant to Article 44, the Yemeni Government has submitted four reports so far, last of which was in 2009 but its discussion was delayed until 2012.

In accordance with article 45 (a) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which gives organizations, specialized agencies, and non-governmental organizations the freedom to submit parallel reports on the status of children in the country party to the Convention, the Yemeni NGOs Coalition for Child Rights Care (YNGOC) has submitted four reports parallel to government reports that were discussed in Geneva, the last of which was submitted in 2012. The YNGOC is currently preparing a fifth parallel report on the status of children in Yemen that will be submitted to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva.

The YNGOC also submitted the first comprehensive periodic report on the status of children in Yemen to the Human Rights Council in Geneva in 2013 and is currently preparing the second periodic report on the status of children in Yemen that will be submitted to the Human Rights Council in Geneva in May 2018.
